The Lone Tree Summer That Finally Lives On The East Side Of I-25

For twenty-five years, a Lone Tree summer meant the west side of the interstate. Sky Ridge, Park Meadows, the golf course, the recreation center off Ridgegate Circle, Sweetwater Park tucked behind the pool. The east side was raw land with a light rail station in the middle of it. In 2026, that ratio has flipped for the first time. After 25 years of planning, Lone Tree is seeing major development across RidgeGate, and after years of infrastructure work, construction is finally accelerating east of Interstate 25.
If you already live here, that shift changes how you plan a Saturday. Below is the version of the summer that only makes sense once you know which addresses are open, which are still fenced, and how to move between them without fighting the RidgeGate Parkway detours.
The single biggest change to a Lone Tree summer this year is a café at 10930 Lyric Street. The Groove, the new neighborhood hub at the heart of the Lyric at RidgeGate community, is now open, and while the community's pool and fitness amenities are residents-only, The Groove café and restaurant are open to the public, with coffee by day and a full bar by night.
That public-access detail is the part locals keep missing. The Groove celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, June 6, 2026, and drew a crowd of around 200, mostly Lyric residents. The residents-first tilt is real, but the café itself is not gated. The Groove is Lyric's central amenity hub, managed by BlueStar Resort & Golf, and it pulls several pieces together in one place: café and restaurant serving coffee, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a full bar and liquor license, a welcome center with a patio opening onto a large lawn and play area, and a fitness area and pool across the lawn. If you want a mid-morning coffee that isn't Park Meadows or the Belleview corridor, this is the new option, and it did not exist eight weeks ago.
The Lone Tree Arts Center has quietly moved most of its summer programming outside. Tunes on the Terrace has three dates that matter for July and August:
Reserved seating packages are $200 for reserved/premium seating and $175 for lawn/standard, all Tunes performances this year will take place rain or shine, and if there is inclement weather and the concert is moved to the Main Stage, patrons will be notified via email on the day of the performance.
Two things about the terrace worth knowing if you have only been inside the main hall. The Center features a 200-seat event hall for intimate performances and gatherings, which opens through a glass wall onto a 350-seat outdoor terrace theater. That glass wall is the reason the rain-or-shine policy works. And the June concerts already sold; Gerald Albright's Lone Tree Sessions with Patti Austin on Thursday, June 11 and Tunes on the Terrace with New Orleans Suspects on Friday, June 26 came and went while most residents were still figuring out The Groove existed. Buy the July tickets before the same thing happens again.
The Center is also running a milestone season. The Lone Tree Arts Center announced the lineup for its 15th anniversary season, and the 2026-2027 season opens Sunday, Sept. 12, with "Georgia on My Mind: Celebrating the Music of Ray Charles," featuring Take 6, Nnenna Freelon, Clint Holmes, and Tom Scott. That September date is already sold out on the LTAC calendar, which tells you something about how tickets are moving this year.
Backyard Beats at Sweetwater Park has been the free-concert anchor for years. In 2026 the city changed the format around it. This year's concert is centered around the Southern Street Eats food truck showdown, and the culinary challenge is BBQ. For $15, a tasting pass gets you a sample of each dish from the participating trucks. It also includes a People's Choice token so you can vote for your favorite dish and help the winning truck score a cash prize. You must have a pass to sample the competition dishes and participate in the judging. $5 from every pass sold goes directly to support the Highlands Ranch Band Booster Club.
That is a small structural change to a free event, and it is the kind of thing a first-time attendee misses. If you show up expecting the 2023 version, you will wonder why half the trucks are roped off. The best move for parking is not the perimeter of the park. Street parking is available on the perimeter of Sweetwater Park, but the HUB parking lot is also available during events and easily connects to the Willow Creek Trail just at the edge of the Cook Creek Pool parking lot. The Willow Creek Trail leads you directly into Sweetwater Park. Park at Cook Creek, walk the trail in, and skip the traffic that stacks up on Sweetwater Road.

There is also a fire-season reality that shapes the outdoor calendar. The City of Lone Tree has enacted Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, effective July 2, 2026 until further notice. That governs backyard grills, campfires at Schweiger, and how much charcoal the Backyard Beats trucks can run. Check the city's page before you plan a firepit night.
Everything above is new. The east-side story does not replace the anchors that were already carrying summer, it just adds to them.
Schweiger Ranch is still the quiet win. Highlighting the city's ranching history, Schweiger Ranch is a designated historic site that embodies the evolution of western ranch life, and it is open for visitors on the third Saturday of the month, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. That is July 18 and August 15 this summer. It is a fifteen-minute stop that most residents have never actually walked through.
The Willow Creek Trail is doing double duty. It is the parking hack for Backyard Beats, and it is the connective tissue between Cook Creek Pool, Sweetwater Park, and Bluffs Regional Park. If you have out-of-town family visiting and want to show them what living here actually feels like, the trail beats the mall every time.
Jack's Modern Steakhouse is back on the dinner rotation. After a temporary closure earlier this year, Jack's Modern Steakhouse reopened its Lone Tree location on April 28, 2026, following an electrical fire that caused significant smoke damage. Now fully restored, the modern steakhouse returns with new menu additions and a speakeasy bar concept on the horizon. New to the menu is Chef Oscar Diaz Lechuga's Wagyu of Pork entrée, an Iberico Secreto from Spain, joining Lone Tree exclusives like Bone Marrow, Beef and Reef Paella, Lobster Ravioli and Pineapple Red Curry Chicken. The January closure took a Saturday-night option off the table for three months. Most residents who used to go monthly did not realize it had reopened until Memorial Day weekend.
If you want the whole east-side shift compressed into 48 hours:
Friday. Late afternoon coffee at The Groove, walk the Lyric loop past the model homes to see the scale of what 1,900 planned homes actually looks like on the ground. Terrace show at 7:30 for Chicken Wire Empire on July 10 or Peter Oyloe on July 24. Late drink back at The Groove after.
Saturday. Morning on the Willow Creek Trail from Cook Creek into Sweetwater. If it's the third Saturday, drive south to Schweiger between 1 and 5. Dinner at Jack's.
Sunday. Farmer's market run and a slow morning. Skip the King Soopers detour; it is going to be a construction fence until spring 2027 regardless.
That is a Lone Tree summer weekend that would have been impossible last July, because the anchor in the middle of it did not exist. The east side is not a future promise anymore. It is where the calendar lives now.
